Excursion Train Rides at the Whippany Railway Museum Come Along and Ride This Train... Departing on Six Summer Weekends in 2012 from Whippany, NJ
Order Tickets Online up to 11:59PM on Thursday before the Sunday ride
Climb aboard the Whippany Railway Museum's Excursion Trains and take a Ride Into The Past ! Visit the Museum on Sunday May 20th (and select Sundays in June, July and September) and enjoy an afternoon of relaxing Family Fun.
Our Trains feature a unique collection of restored, Vintage Cabooses from Historic Rail Lines that once served New Jersey and the Metropolitan area. |
| Passengers can climb aboard the Caboose of their choice and experience an old-fashioned, pleasant way of spending a Sunday afternoon with the Family. While swaying to the motion of the old cars you can listen to the nostalgic “clickety-clack” sounds the wheels make as they clatter over the rail joints. The 45-minute round trip allows visitors to view the train and countryside as only Railroaders did for over 100 years. |
The 10-mile round trip Train Ride is part of the Museum's Operating Heritage Railroad Excursions and travels the Route of the Historic Whippanong Trail through Whippany, East Hanover, Livingston and Roseland in Morris and Essex Counties. The train passes through the remnants of pre-historic Glacial Lake Passaic, a natural swamp which supports abundant wildlife, such as deer, turtles, wild turkeys, hawks and rabbits. |
| The ride also features the thrill of crossing high above the Passaic River over a historic bridge. |
This beautiful car features all the amenities offered by the CNJ's deluxe Blue Comet passenger train of the 1930's.
For a slightly higher fare, you can upgrade your excursion experience by choosing to ride in our elegantly-restored 1927-era Central Railroad of New Jersey club car, 'Jersey Coast'.

Inside it has the look and feel of a private club, with details like individual leather chairs, mahogany interior accented with stained glass, built-in tables and old time ceiling fans.
Feel like a millionaire for 45 minutes while traveling in this carefully restorted relic from another age.

Trains depart from the Museum site in Whippany, NJ at 1, 2, 3 & 4 PM, Rain or Shine.

Our Excursion Train Rides are part of a fundraising effort to benefit the Museum, a non-profit organization comprised of New Jersey-related rail and transportation equipement and artifacts, staffed by volunteers. Donations from the public help to keep the Museum operational, but funds are still needed to support this unique New Jersey treasure. Proceeds from the excursions further enhance the Museum's Mission and its Historic Preservation efforts. For more information, E-mail us at
